No AC

By choice. Several times yesterday my kids begged to turn on the air conditioning. Surprisingly their dad, a fan of the appliance, said no.

“All the windows are open,” he told them.

    They offered to shut them.

My son had a fan in his bedroom already and turned it on. The ceiling fan in the master bedroom was pressed into service. Then out came the house’s remaining fans for other spots: the daughter’s bedroom, the living room, the office so the kids could have air blowing on them while they checked out a new online computer game.

No AC. I wait all year for this weather and the chance to open up the house. No way was I going to sacrifice it for the same stale, stuffy feeling I get closed in at work.

This morning brought more of the same, warm and only getting warmer, and I expect the same pleas to come.

This time, we’ll resolve them at the beach.
