In our latest hunt for Ozzfest information, my son and I found good news: a Michigan date has been added. On Aug. 26, the whole shebang will settle in at Pine Knob, also known as DTE Energy Music Theatre, although no one I know calls it that.
The less good news: As expected, the freeness of the show and the accompanying lower revenue means the huge names are staying away in droves. We scanned the list and saw only one highlight: Lordi. We first heard of the costumed monster rockers when they defied the odds and won the “American Idol”-like Eurovision Song Contest 2006. Being part Finnish ourselves, we were intrigued.
Whether we’re intrigued enough to make the trek to Clarkston – admittedly more palatable than Indianapolis – remains to be seen.
