I went to FOUR places in Saginaw last Friday for laptop repair after the contact for the plug retreated beyond reach. (I have dropped my laptop a LOT.)
I learned Best Buy doesn’t do hardware repairs on site, and they sent me to Video Games Plus, which didn’t have a tech available until Saturday night (huh?).
I went to PCS, where they seemed competent and had their rates posted in the lobby, including the 2X urgency rates. The woman I spoke with had concerns about possible motherboard work, which is not in their realm of expertise, and she said, “Go to Cybertech Systems and ask for Chris.”
Chris was great! It turned out not to be a motherboard issue but the cheap-ass construction of my low-end Lenovo. Chris returned these 11 parts that were loose inside (yikes!), met both the price and time frame he quoted, and even offered advice on my next laptop. I highly recommend Cybertech Systems.
FRIEND: Were these extra parts supposed to still be inside … attached to something?
ME: A couple of them used to hold the plug contact in place. Like I said, dropped a lot, plus it’s a low-end model. It runs great and no more clicking noise in the fan!
FRIEND: That’s a good thing then. Always wonder whether those extra parts are really supposed to be extra.
ME: No, I made them that way.
