Adding to the art

indoor mural

This indoor mural in Ann Arbor invited people to add words in the bubbles, and lines linking speakers and events. White paint could be added at any time during the exhibition to wipe away contributions and start anew.

Another of the four murals had a black and white outline that people were invited to help color in. Still another had backpacks to be donated (and decorated by spraying bottles of diluted paint), and the final one featured fabric squares in a quiltlike pattern, alternate spaces untouched when we visited.

I decided to share one of my favorite jokes. I didn’t know whether people would understand that the Teletubby screen held the answer, but I liked that potential confusion.
