
APRIL 12: These beautiful 4-inch buds appeared overnight and I don’t know what they are. I planted Solomon’s seal and Jefferson twinleaf there, and don’t think these are either. There are cages now to protect them from the bigfooted Lab technician.
FRIEND: They look like bloodroot flowers; quite pretty when they open.
ME: Thanks! I’ll let you know if that’s what they end up being. I don’t remember planting bloodroot but I’ve been focusing on natives so I might have.
FRIEND: It’s a wildflower native to Eastern U.S. Some critter probably planted for you.
