Thirtyish years ago, I started buying myself flowers.
No occasion. I just enjoy having cut flowers in my home. They’re usually inexpensive grocery bouquets – Meijer, Kroger. For a while Bay City, Michigan, was home to City Market, which had a fabulous florist that sold flowers and greens by the stem, but sadly it was gone before I moved to nearby Midland.
Sometimes I know what I’ve bought, like the yellow chrsyanthemum above. Others I don’t, like the windy (WINE-dee) stem that accompanies it.
Fresh flowers brighten my day, and maybe they’ll brighten yours, too.
