I took up painting last year. This is my latest dabble:

It’s watercolor and ink on dry paper. This is not freehand! I don’t draw very well (yet) but I wanted a way to make actual pictures, not just swoops and blobs, while I learned about saturation, strokes, brushes and other aspects.
I tried printing line drawings and painting them, but quickly tired of that. Too much like “paint by number.”
So this is my compromise. First, I chose a photo I had taken, in this case a grocery bouquet:

Then in Adobe Photoshop, I changed the mode to grayscale, and in filters used stylize > find edges. This is the result:

I printed this out on watercolor paper, then painted and inked it. What do you think, is this a tool or a cheat?
