Chrysalises came in all last week for Dow Gardens‘ Butterflies in Bloom, from Florida, Central America, Asia, Africa. Some of them, like the amber ones at far right here, look like jewels. The two butterflies at left were still fairly damp when I went in for volunteer training on Friday; I only saw five that had emerged.

New to the exhibit this year are tags that give not only the name of the butterfly enclosed in the adjacent chrysalises, but a picture and origin. My volunteer gig is entirely about the chrysalis cases, so I tend to geek out on my babies. And look at those gold and black gems to the left! Gorgeous!
