Near our hotel in Miami, shades of old and new.

A drawbridge, LOL. Miami driving is just like Bay City … not.

A building by the Brickell bus station, which is also where we got on and off the city’s free trolleys, which ran right by our hotel. The trolleys make loops in several areas and run until 11 p.m. so we thought they were a fantastic option … until we realized we needed a city bus to get from loop to loop, and they stop around 6 p.m. So we rode the trolley but in more limited fashion than we would have liked.

We took the No. 8 bus to and from Little Havana. It had a seat dedicated in honor of Rosa Parks.

Watched cigars being hand rolled in Little Havana. We ate at Versailles, a Cuban community gathering spot; huge menu and quite reasonable prices.

A ceiba tree considered sacred by Santería practitioners, who sometimes leave offerings of chicken bones and cloth bundles.

Inside Havana Classic Cigars, where they make and sell cigars grown from Cuban seed. Many of the workers have been there a long time and learned the craft from parents and grandparents.

Domino Park, where only members can play but anyone is welcome to watch.

Rideup takeout.
