Painting Pics, 04212026 edition

Here are two paintings I decided to redo.

The flowers at left I mainly wanted to redo because I had these odd floating stems. I was following along with a video but clearly not closely enough. Oh, and later I spilled water on it, bonus. In the one on the right, I like the composition a lot better. For the large pink flowers, I found the darker midlines on the petals looked too artificial, but I did like the half-outlined petals on the center blossom and will use that style again.

The moon on the left is terrible. I even was working from a photo of the moon to try to get the markings accurate. I decided the reflection lines in the water were too fat, and it made no sense that there weren’t any close to the light source. My video guide painted stars in the sky and then reflected them in the water, but I made my stars with spattered masking fluid and didn’t care about having them reflected. On the right, I like the darker purple, but the middle blue section is the only part that’s dry on wet and I’m disappointed by how poorly it is blended. And I put all the mountain shadows on the left side, not thinking about the moon, duh. Maybe I’ll try this one again, but probably not soon.
